I wonder if this is how the Jews felt....

In the NY Times this morning:
In Putnam County, N.Y., about 50 miles north of Manhattan, eight illegal immigrants who were playing soccer in a school ball field were arrested on Jan. 9 for trespassing and held for the immigration authorities.(by local cops)

Everyone is so crazed about immigrants from south of the border..... now local officials, who usually don't cross the line and take up the work of federal authorities, are asking to be trained to do the job of immigration cops. They want the "illegals" out so badly..... wonder who will clean hotel rooms and be day laborers when they have all be rounded up by small town johnny law?

Funny thing is that unless you can claim full-blood status as an American Indian you don't belong here either.... and yes, I get that there are legal channels you can go through to come to Amerika, but we all know that there are more than latins coming through illegally. Seems they are the target right now, just like the jews in Germany..... wonder who will be next to be singled out and then thrown out?

I so don't understand.... if they are here, and contributing, why not just let them stay? Ain't no white boy or girl going to do the jobs they do.... ain't no white kid going to work for the low wages they do... many immigrant populations started at the bottom of the economic pile and then rose to the top... Irish "Micks", amd Italian "Dagos" to name two.....worked the low jobs until they were able to do something else.... guess because they came through the facility at Ellis Island it's different, yes? I think not... or, maybe we should have an Ellis Island in Texas so mass immigration can start again.... There is still room for people who want a better life in this country....

See, I Told Ya So....

While new technology and low-cost labor overseas are holding down the wages of the average American worker, executive pay continues to rise at an astonishing rate.

More from the NY Times.... but not surprising, at all.... the rich are getting, well, richer, and the rest of us are just barely getting by. Or, living on credit... horror of horrors that those little plastic cards are. My housemate called them the false economic boom. Most folks are so far in debt they'll never get out.

Why is it that we of the masses settle for this lop sided supply side economy? Why is it alright for the big boys to live like kings or barons and the rest of us to live like peasants....

I'm sure wondering about this today.. Are you?

You're a risk-taker, and you follow your passions. You're determined to take on the world and succeed on your own terms. Whether in the arts, science, engineering, business, or politics, you fearlessly express your own vision of the world. You're not afraid of a fight, and you're not afraid to bet your future on your own abilities. If you find a job boring or stifling, you're already preparing your resume. You believe in doing what you love, and you're not willing to settle for an ordinary life.

The internet is rife with these little tests that determine personality traits. I belong to an online forum of other women like me and we seem to do a bunch of them. I took one this morning and loved what it said, because it is so true. There have been moments in my life where I wished I was more cautious about life, but it's just not how I operate. This risk-taking path has left me, at times, wondering where the money for the rent will come from. But, it has also given me many moments of great joy and satisfaction. I jump head first and worry about the consequences later....
