"as the United States pours billions of dollars into Columbia in support of Uribe"

What would happen if this government stopped pouring billions into support of other countries and started pouring those billions into this country instead?

It is getting bad people. Job loss, lack of consumer confidence, a failing economy along with a failing administration. Why is it that we travel along a path to destruction, and go there willingly, like sheep to the slaughter? I heard that 40 million people in this country don't have healthcare. I think that number is higher as a lot of folks have fallen off the grid because of poverty. Gas is crazy expensive and now there is talk of drilling in the gulf, and in Alaska, to relieve the problem at the pump. As if OPEC makes the decision about pricing without the help of those who run the largest oil companies in this country.

When will it end? When will the masses wake up? I hope for the best, but think that the worst is ahead. I am glad that I have a big enough piece of the pie to hold out for better days, if they come. I feel for those who don't. I've loaned money to a bunch of them lately. The little people, who work hard, try hard, and still end up without heat at the end of winter.

I am sick, and tired, and sick and tired of being tired. I have no clue what a new administration might bring, but I don't have much hope that anyone can turn this "car" around and get back on the road that leads to recovery for a nation that is in deep trouble.
