observations on this life

when there is nothing left to say

I had a dream about the house I grew up in, if four years in one place can be counted as the actual place you grew up in. We moved a lot... Anyway, in my dream the house was covered in a mossy green film, and everything was quite run down..... the pool at our next door neighbor's house was the only thing that looked spot on clean. I spent a lot of time in that pool... learned to really swim there. Every girl on the block had a birthday party there. I was best friend's with Jeannie George, the lucky kid who had a pool in her backyard...

I found it odd that the house that was mine, and even their's, was quite a shambles Not at all pristine like when we lived out the American Dream on Lucille Street in the 1960s. My parents were depression kids and living on Lucille Street meant that they had arrived... Two cars in a double garage and a next door neighbor with an honest to goodness in ground pool.

I'm not sure what the dream means, but the pool sure looked good, just like when I was 6 and it was a big part of my world. Summer days of swimming and snow cones. Treats from the trucks that brought bread and milk and nearly everything else to our front door every week. We knew the guys that delivered all that goodness and would line up for samples when they pulled up out front.

I miss that time.... when there truly was an innocence to childhood. My innocence is gone, but somehow the memories of bikes, and ballgames, and barbecues, and that pool remain.

my new obsession

observations on this life
I have a new obsession.... it's The Panic Channel Radio Show....Hosted by Dave Navarro, Donavan Leitch, and various guest stars...
It's on Indie 103.1 in Santa Moncia..... broadcast on the internet courtesy of the Camp Freddy website. One of the said Mr. Navarro's currrent musical projects. The music is good, but the banter is better, and I now have a school girl crush on Dave Navarro.... Never had a school girl crush, so this is fabulous. Ok, I never had a school girl crush on a boy... Plenty on girls. I'm 49 by the way, so it was actually another century when I was in school...Navarro is nearly young enough to be my son, but I don't care... He's hella sexy, and plays guitar liike the rock God he is! Argh. I'm rambling...
